TENTATIVE SCHEDULE & ROUTE (AS OF AUGUST 15, 2004:

September 20 (Monday) Start at 1pm in Anchor Park, 340 S. Ocean Blvd, Delray Beach, Florida. Proceed south on S. Ocean Blvd past Atlantic Dunes Park, Highland Beach, Spanish River Park, and South Inlet Park. Exit Palm Beach county and enter Broward county. South Ocean Blvd becomes A1A. Proceed south on A1A past the town of Ocean Vue. At the junction with NE 2d St., A1A jogs west about 300 feet, then continues south. Proceed south on A1A past Hillsboro Beach, across Hillsboro Bay, to the junction of A1A and NE 14th Street Causeway, east of Pompano Beach. Turn right and proceed approximately 1000 feet to Alsdorf Park. STOP. Approximate mileage: 15 miles

September 21 (Tuesday) Morning From Alsdorf Park, proceed east on NE 14th St Causeway to the junction with A1A, turn right (south). Proceed south on A1A to near Sea Ranch Lakes, where A1A becomes N. Ocean Drive Continue south on N. Ocean Drive past Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, past Hugh Taylor Beach State Recreation Area, where N. Ocean Drive becomes N. Atlantic Blvd. Proceed south on N. Atlantic Blvd. to South Beach Park. STOP. Walkers will then be transported by vehicle from South Beach Park to the intersection of East Dania Beach Blvd and North Ocean Drive.
Afternoon Starting at the intersection of East Dania Beach Blvd. and North Ocean Drive, which is located at the NE corner of West Lake Park, proceed south on North Ocean Drive past Hollywood North Beach Park. At the junction of N. Ocean Drive and and FL 820, N. Ocean Drive becomes S. Ocean Drive. Proceed south on S. Ocean Drive, leaving Broward county and entering Miami-Dade county. Proceeding south, S. Ocean Drive becomes Ocean Blvd and then becomes Collins Ave near NE 192d Street. Proceed south on Collins Ave. to the south end of Haulover Park, just before it crosses into Bal Harbour. STOP. Approximate mileage: 20 miles

September 22 (Wednesday) Starting from the south end of Haulover Park, proceed south on Collins Avenue, across the bay into Bal Harbour, where Collins Avenue becomes Bal Harbour Blvd. Approximately 1000 feet after crossing the bay, Bal Harbour Blvd bifurcates. Take the left (eastern) fork (which is one-way north for traffic) and proceed south against traffic to the junction of Bal Harbour Blvd and 96th Street. This location is two blocks east of the Bal Harbour Shops. South of 96th Street, Bal Harbour Blvd becomes A1A. Proceed south on A1A; it becomes Collins Avenue again at 87th Street. Proceed south on Collins Avenue past North Shore State Recreation Area, Ocean Terrace Public Beach, North Shore Park, Allison Park, Beach View Park, Indian Beach Park, Collins Park, the city of Miami Beach, and ending two blocks west of the SW corner of Lummus Park and Public Beach, where Collins Ave intersects Fifth Street. STOP. Approximate mileage: 20 miles
