From: Mile 37: Frederick, Maryland

To: Mile 97: Chambersburg, Pennsylvania

Total Distance: 60 miles

Topography: Relatively flat with occasional hills until approach of mountains in Pennsylvania after Gettysburg where the ride goes consistently uphill.

Weather: Rain, Rain, Rain, and more Rain ALL DAY. Cold and Windy ALL DAY.

Major Landmarks: Crossing of Mason-Dixon Line (divide of US into North and South), at the border of Maryland and Pennsylvania.
Historic Gettysburg, and The Hill that would not go away. Total Distance: 4 miles=2hrs

The Ride:
Start: 11am (2 hours behind schedule due to weather)
End: 6pm (1.5 hours ahead of schedule)
Total: 7 hours
Average time: 15miles per hour until the Hill that would not end.

Riders: 16

Casualties:
Namgyal Rapten: Went down crossing train tracks 20 miles outside of Chambersburg
Minor scrapes and bruises. Nearly hit by truck moving 50mph.
Status: Will ride tomorrow

Tenzin Norbu: Went down handling shift in wet pavement on non-existent shoulder 5 miles outside of Gettysburg. Pavement burn on knee, scrapes and bruises.
Status: Will ride tomorrow

Sonam Wangdu: Strained knee in early stretch of ride. Tied Khata around knee for support and continued ride for another 20 miles. Injury worsened.
Status: Tentative

Tenzin Sherab: Experienced strained hamstrings within first 20 miles. Continued to ride until ten miles outside of Chambersburg.
Status: Tentative

Standouts:
Rinpo Tenzin: Led entire ride.
Rinpo Tenzin, Tashi Dorjee, and Genden Gyatso: All mistakenly rode 3 miles past endpoint of day.
Jigme Norbu: Completed 2nd Full Day of riding without incident.

Rating: Outstanding!!!!
