Moving Day: April 9 , 2004

All the pieces are falling into place for tomorrow's PeaceRide from DC to Toronto. Two vans packed with bike gear, food, sleeping bags, tons of water and Gatorade, and of course BIKES and RIDERS headed out of Indy early this morning headed for DC. Five bikes on the back, six on the roof, and six in the back made it cozy as we headed east and got our first glimpse of the terrain that will certainly put these young Tibetans from Minnesota to the test. Riders from LA, NY, including a couple from Winnipeg planning on riding tandem, met up with the ten from Minneapolis at their Tibetan Host Families in Falls Church, VA.

Early tomorrow morning at the Chinese Embassy the opening demonstration and ceremony will get underway at 10am. The Riders would like to thank all that have contributed to make this ride for peace possible as well as express their support for the Tibetan Hunger Strikers outside the UN in New York City, who tomorrow will begin their 9th day. The Tashiluhunpo Monks, who have been touring the United States for the past three months (currently at Virginia Tech) would like to let the riders know their effort and dedication to the Independence of Tibet is highly recognized and appreciated and that they will pray for their Long Life and safety throughout the ride.

Bhod Rangzen!!!!
