Day
6 - July 2 - Monday
One of the Quakers walked with us all day and we were also joined
for a brief time by 80-year old Geshe Monlam and his student, Sandra
Esner. It was great to have these folks with us, especially Geshe-la.
Geshe-la and Sandra walked with us many times before and they are
long time supporters of ITIM.
Another
long time supporter, Ken Klein, brought us lunch. We walked 14.7
miles today.
In the
evening, we drove one-hour to the Appel Farm Arts and Music Center
where we were treated to dinner and fortunate to present our program
to three different groups of middle school and high school campers.
In total, we interacted with 180 campers. Many had excellent questions
and were quite knowledgeable about Tibet. This event was arranged
by one of ITIM’s Board Members, Douglas Herman, who is serving
as the Director of Photography Education at the Camp. All of us
were quite inspired and thrilled to share the story of Tibet with
the campers.
Following
the program, we returned to the Quaker House. It should be mentioned
there were no problems during our stay in Trenton.
