Day 5 - July 29

Palden-la helped us launch our walk today by walking with us for about one hour. Today was the hottest day thus far. There was no breeze and it was 90+ degrees. For almost the entire time we have been walking, there has been limited shade. Today, there was almost no shade. We walked 11.2 miles today. In the evening, our host family (Chris, Lori, and Nick) coordinated a pitch in dinner with persons from the Elkhorn community. Twenty people were on hand, and interestingly, many knew about Tibet. One gentleman had studied for quite some time with Geshe Sopa-la in Deer Park. It was very comforting to be with these well-informed Tibet supporters and also surprising to find such individuals in a small Wisconsin community.
