San Francisco Olympic Torch Protests
ITIM Board Members Larry Gerstein and Ngawang Norbu participated in the Olympic activities in San Francisco on April 8 and 9, 2008. On April 8, there were demonstrations, a walk, and an evening candle light vigil. The next day there were a series of rallies and a walk connected to protesting the 2008 Beijing Olympic Torch as well as a ceremony to acknowledge the Tibetan Freedom Torch. All the events were coordinated by the Tibetan Association of Northern California, Regional Tibetan Youth Congress-San Francisco, Students for a Free Tibet-San Francisco, Bay Area Friends of Tibet, and Committee of 100 for Tibet with the assistance of ITIM and the International Campaign for Tibet.
