Warm temperatures and blue skies came just in time for Dadon to sing at an outdoor presentation at Ithaca College. While in Ithaca the walkers will take a few days off from the road and spend their time giving presentations and meeting with the Tibetan Community of Ithaca.
At noon, as students began their lunch break on the campus of Ithaca College, Dadon Dawadolma began the presentation by singing about Tibet; her voice echoing both pain and hope for the future of her homeland.
While enjoying the sun, the songs and the speaking, Panchen Lama postcards, pre-addressed to Madeleine Albright, were past out to everyone in attendance and all passersby. In anticipation of The Dalai Lama's meeting with Secretary of State Albright on the 24th everyone was urged to get them in the mail ASAP.
"The PRC claims Taiwan as a renegade province," explained Chong-Hi, a member of the Taiwanese Collegian and a marcher for Tibet's independence. "The PRC wants Taiwan back and constantly threatens us. This makes our independence movement more difficult, but we have to urge people to conquer their fear of the PRC. We can not give in to these threats. We don't want a war, but we will definitely defend ourselves against a Chinese invasion. We must declare our independence!" |
