Day 1 - July 25

About 30 people gathered for the opening rally of the 2008 March for Tibet's Independence including Tibetans from Indiana, Wisconsin, Washington DC, Minnesota, Boston, Portland, New York, and Kentucky. The highlights of this event were the speeches of Wisconsin State Representatives Joseph Parisi and Spencer Black. Both representatives spoke passionately about their support for Tibet and their commitment to work for Tibet until it was free once again. The core walkers covered about 10 miles today in blistering, humid, heat. In the evening, the walkers stayed in a home in Madison. Interestingly, the host family was not present nor did we ever meet them. A Tibetan family provided us with momos for dinner!
