On February, 14, 2011, Jigme Norbu-la was hit by a car and died while walking for Tibet in Florida. Jigme-la was the youngest son of ITIM's co-founder, Taktser Rinpoche. Since 2003, Jigme-la has participated in every ITIM "March for Tibet's Independence." Three years ago, he began to walk and do bicycle rides for Tibet through his own organization thinking it was critical to increase the number of activities designed to regain Tibet's independence. Jigme-la's passing is a huge loss for the Tibet movement, his family, and ITIM. He was a tireless Tibet freedom fighter that endured great physical pain in silence continuing to fight for his country's independence. The Tibet movement has lost a powerful activist. The Walk for Tibet that Jigme-la began in Jacksonville, Florida is continuing. You can follow this walk online. ITIM is helping to make certain that this Walk for Tibet is successful. |
